The UN brought together 10 international architects to plan this "workshop for peace". The Board of Design met 45 times in 1947 to review 40 different designs before the final plan was selected. The building's most famous feature, the floor-to-ceiling glass curtain walls,

unfortunately had a serious design flaw. The unshaded glass on the south side gets too hot when it's sunny and leaks when it rains.
