National Building Museum
Now called the National Building Museum, this structure was built in 1883 using 15.5 million bricks, and still stands as the largest brick building in the world. Offices are located around the perimeter with natural ventilation exiting through the top of the Great Hall in the center. Originally used to administer Civil War pensions, proposed electric lights and elevators were not approved by Congress at the time.
